4 Sure Ways to Get Referrals

Do you find yourself feeling awkward when it comes to asking for a referral? You definitely want new clients, but you don’t want to come off as desperate or pushy to your current ones? But you provide SUCH great service, it shouldn’t be that way. You should be able to simply ask for a referral and know that there is nothing that could go wrong.

You might think that sounds impossible, but it’s not. We have 4 sure ways for you to get referrals.

1. Be straightforward

Believe it or not, people want to be told exactly what to do. But in order for them to do it, you have to make it easy. Ask your clients if they know a couple of people that could use your product or service, and you’ll have a good chance to spark their memory and give you a few names.

You could make the referral process easy for your customers by giving them easy steps on how to refer you. Provide a link at the top of your website that says: “Refer a Friend.” That link could send them to a landing page where they can input the name of the person they want to refer, along with their information.

2. Provide Value

A sure way for people to talk about you is to get them to like you, and a sure way for them to do that is to give them value. Let me guess, you just read an article that you found educational and entertaining? Then you are probably going to share it on your social media channels. Same thing if you just published a case study that could be useful to your clients, or made an educational video! Send them a link, or post it on your social media channels, that way they can share it with their network.

It’s a simple and effective way to show them that you’ve kept them in mind – even after you’ve closed a sale. It’s a way to show them you care about things that benefit them. If you give them something they can share, you will make them look good and you will look awesome too.

3. Offer something in return

Give your clients something to look forward to so that they are motivated to refer you. Design a program to provide rewards addressing their needs. Discount programs are a great way to reward your customers who refer others to you. For instance, you can give customers who refer you a discount like a 25 percent off the next purchase or tell them they get a certain amount off for providing you with names of potential clients.

4. Ask clients to follow you on social media

Who doesn’t want more followers and more engagement? I mean, you are providing value, so you might as well increase your following. Keep in mind that half of all Facebook users have more than 200 friends. That’s a lot of potential clients in your network!

Ask your customers to follow you and the content you share, that way you are visible to more people that could also be interested in what you have to offer.

So, now that you know exactly what to do, what are you waiting for?
